The first stop could be Possagno where the sculptor Antonio Canova, was born in 1757.
He designed and financed “Il Tempio” which rises on the top of a hill.
In the “gipsoteca”, beside his house, designed by Carlo Scarpa, there are all his plaster casts, drafts and original studies.

Driving through the hills, one of the most beautiful medieval towns to see is Asolo with its fortification, the fountains and the aristocratic palaces which remind the visitors of the ones in Venice.

Near Asolo there are two worthwhile architectural sites to see: In Maser the wonderful Palladian villa “Barbaro” with the “crosera” painted of frescoes by Paolo Veronese.
In San Vito di Altivole the outstanding mausoleum designed for the Brions by the twentieth-century architect Carlo Scarpa.
Between the two nearby towns of Montebelluna and Castelfranco, it is easy to come across Venetian gentlemen’s summer retreats, such as the Palladian Villa Emo, Villa Cornaro, Villa Corner.

Driving east from Valdobbiadene through the Prosecco hills in the direction of Conegliano the Cistercian abbey of Follina, dated twelfth century, with its thirteenth-century church deserves a stop.

At few kilometres away, at San Pietro di Feletto, there is the Romanesque church of the same name with its wonderful thirteenth-century porch.
The indoor frescoes recall the Byzantine style.
Not far from there, the visitor comes across Conegliano with its twelfth-century castle.
The old part of the town has aristocratic palaces and outstanding porches to see.

24 kilometres north of Valdobbiadene towards Belluno there is the small town of Feltre.
The architectural influences of its magnificent sixteenth-century palaces reflect those found in Venice.
